Makes me remember the days of the oem ATI single cable card tuner... over $200 for a single tuner-one that didn't work great.
Amazing how people's expectations of technology change over time.

I read about the ATI tuners, and the associated price tag of the pre-built PC's that came with them. The entry price was ridiculous... and it only got me ONE tuner. I already had a dual-tuner DVR from my cable company. If it was possible then, to build a PC with 4+ CableCARD tuners for under $2K USD, I would have jumped on it... especially if I understood that I could use extenders around the house to drive up to six TV's (5 extenders + 1 connected to the PC)!makryger wrote:Makes me remember the days of the oem ATI single cable card tuner... over $200 for a single tuner-one that didn't work great.

Honestly, I jumped on this bandwagon as soon as I heard about the Ceton InfiniTV4 (which, as it turns out, I heard about from one of the online support rep's at my cable company!).
It's a crying shame that Microsoft didn't advertise and encourage this ecosystem sooner.
Oh well. I'll ride it until it dies or something better comes along.
