For the next couple of hours only, you can get a WMC remote from Newegg for $14, shipped.

This includes an IR receiver.

um, read carefully.

It says it includes a "WIRELESS receiver". And it's a tiny thumb thing.

Methinks this is not IR...

If only it had a tv power button. I don't understand why that is so rare.

I have seen that one. I just don't understand why MOST of them don't have it.

Do you know if that remote works with the Echo?

don't know.

And frankly, I don't know why it *wouldn't*. Every MC remote I have works with the Echo.

Plus, that's a learning remote...

It's not a learning remote. You can use the emitter and software to "teach" it but it's not programmable by our definition.

Correct. The IR receiver is "teachable", but the remote is not. I've looked at that one before too. I've also read that the thumb-drive-sized IR receiver is more directional than some larger receivers.

EDIT: Oops, regarding the learning function, I was thinking about this one:

The item listed in the first post of this thread doesn't mention any learning capability.

I have several of these Inteset remotes.

http://shop.inteset.com/

They are rc6 but do not work with the Echo. The owner offered to send one to Ceton but they weren't interested. I like the style of the remote a lot but it's very buggy. There is an updated version coming out at the end of this month. If the bugs are fixed I will be very happy. I have not tried plugging in an IR receiver into the Echo. I might order one with the new remote.

Everyone, please read and comprehend. I was talking about the OrigenAE remote. It's a learning remote.

Hey, at least I corrected myself as soon as I realized my mistake.

I have the remote. You can not program the remote. You can have your pc control something via the ir emitter but the actual remote can not be programmed. There is nothing to debate.

Edit: Ahh. Didn't see you link to the origen up there. Settle down now, okay?
