I suspect that's the price after the rebate.

I feel sorry for the person that pays RRP (who is that anyway?) $399 for a card that can be had for $299 and below.

But the early buyers also had the benefit of getting 4 HD channels much earlier, giving an equivalent cost of two-ish DVRs for months longer. Plus they probably got to sell their ATI DCTs for a much better profit...

I bought one in the early days (pre-ordered in March 2010), and I can say it has been well worth every penny I paid for it.

Well throw me into that batch also.. I preordered early and got a 1st batch card... Worth it though! That thing has been rock solid. Well worth the money spent. I think It spoiled my wife though as the "recorded TV" folder is always FULL...stonethecrows wrote:I'm one of the schmucks who got one as soon as they came out although very worth it at the time.
I have a hard time finding enough time just to watch all the stuff I miss.. Happy to see the USB and 6 Tuner versions aren't far behind now

I am too one of the early adopters. I am coming up on a 1 year anniversary of the first Ceton tuner I received, and it has paid it self off and paid for the HTPC.
We now have 5 TV's connected to the main HTPC, which with Verizon would have cost us ($20 for the Whole house DVR + 4x$10 for HD boxes = $60/month x 12 = $720). And I sold the ATI DCT's on ebay for like $130 each, which are now down to $60-$70 each.
A couple more months and all 4 extenders will be paid off by the savings!
Wife LOVES the ability to stop watching a show in one room, and continue from where she left off in another. So, WAF has been very high. Even MILAF is high. FILAF is medium, ParentsAF is medium as well (why can't you have a normal TV like your sister? What's with all the trickery?)
Have built 5 more systems for customers. Everyone loves it!
