Ceton InfiniTV 4 on Sale at Amazon - $199!

#1

Post by mattiedread » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:41 pm

This was just posted as a reply on AVS:

Ceton via Amazon offers the Ceton InfiniTV Quad-Tuner Card, model no. 5100.01-DCT04IN, for $199 with free shipping. That's $21 under our December mention and the lowest total price we've seen. (It's a current low by $91.) It connects through a PCI-Express slot and allows you to watch/record four HD channels simultaneously.

I just purchased one. Shipping was $8, although it qualifies for free super saving shipping.

hmmmmm, blowing out the old stock before selling the 6 stream unit (he says, hopefully)?

Nah, I couldn't be that lucky.

*sigh* I got tired of waiting for the price to drop, and I just bought a HDHRPrime earlier this week. I have a little buyers remorse, now.

But to spark some conversation.... Do you think the price drop is in response to the HDHR sales that are currently going on? Or... Could this be an indicator that something new due to be released very soon? The InfiniTV6 perhaps??

It's an official price change from Ceton. http://www.missingremote.com/news/2012- ... rs-now-199

They must be dropping the price for a reason...

As with anything, once you've gotten those who are willing to pay the higher price, then you drop the price to get those who weren't going to pay the higher price.

What you don't do is put it on the market at the lower price and give up profits unnecessarily.

Plus, they've got that nice 6 stream unit in the wings somewhere, ready to take on the mantle left by the InfiniTV4...

No doubt we'll go through the same bit with the 6 like we did with the 4, having it come out slowly and through only a few retailers, threads on whose got delivered when, etc., etc.

Looks like the price drop is permanent.

So the question now is: why the price drop? Is the 6 tuner model imminent? Does this make the Ceton Q a more palatable price?
