I'd like to know how the Apple TV/Channels app handles HD channels.

I think this first step is OTA, but hey they say they have a GUIDE! They must be kickin it old school to offer a old dusty GUIDE!Scallica wrote:I'd like to know how the Apple TV/Channels app handles HD channels.

I think they also mention they want to eventually use the SD API's to link it to the DVR. Here's to hope!

Good call, I should watch the video before I post! Rovi strikes again? They have single handedly destroyed any chance of a good replacement for WMC!Ed wrote:Channels doesn't offer a grid guide.

I don't believe so, I believe they just went for the Apple TV design/design guidelines for all parts of their app, and thus the guide looks the way it is on Channels (I believe this to be the main reason at least, even if other contributing factors).
Might not agree with Rovi (I don't), but it's not them alone 'destroying' it, it would also be people too cheap to licence Rovi's patents or guide data (in which case they could then use a grid guide - according to SD's own words - if they paid Rovi for guide data); when it's integral to/for their app. I wouldn't blame the small guys like Channels (who don't choose where the guide data comes from, and maybe couldn't afford the Rovi patent), but I would blame the bigger guys like SD for that.
