What would you guys like to see explanations on
So I'm planning on writing some blogs to try and explain some of the concepts we deal with, and I'm wondering what sort of stuff you guys would find interesting. A few of the ideas I've come up with so far
Splitters and amplifiers (loss, gain, tilt, etc)
Copy Protection (CCI, RC, etc)
Copy Protection (HDCP)
Signal strength troubleshooting
How SDV works
How CableCARD works (possibly encryption all the way to your display)
CableCARD Pairing
Possibly MPEG and QAM (not sure if these can be simplified enough to make the blog interesting while still being useful)
Some sort of network troubleshooting?
Any other ideas? What do you guys want to see info on? Does any of the above sound boring to you?

I vote for Splitters and amplifiers/ Signal strength troubleshooting. I always *think* I understand this stuff, but then so often what I'd expect to happen does not. For example, sometimes adding a splitter makes signals better, sometimes it screws things up. Sometimes the poor quality splitter works best, sometimes the fancy gold plated digital splitter works better. It all seems like a such trial and error until you get something that works.
You know what would be awesome? If you not just put it in a blog posting, but added it to the Wiki!
PS. Are you officially no longer a microsoft employee?

All those that you listed would be great topics, Maybe they could even end up on this sites wiki.

Those all look like excellent topics. I can't think of anything else right now, but I'm sure I will soon enough.

Unfortunately, probably won't be able to put the blogs in the wiki here - I'm looking to write them as part of my role in Ceton.
Even if you had the source, the card wouldn't boot it - the firmware is encrypted and signedstonethecrows wrote:I would quite like to see 'Tweaking the infiniTV firmware source code for dummies'

When you're finished with that, I'm sure I can come up with more.
