Networking in Hyper-V
I'm a novice with hyper-v just thought i'd have a crack at it for windows 10...
I install a virtuallization of my network card but I can't seem to get online, all I get is "limited connection"
any pointers as to what I might be doing wrong??
preferably without frazzling my tiny brain!!!!!

In Hyper-v you get involved with a some what simplistic form of SDN or Software Defined Networking. In the Hyper-V Manager you'll need to define a software switch and attach it to the physical interface you want to use.
Create a new external virtual switch.
Select the interface to which you would like the virtual switch to bind. Think of it as plugging that physical interface in to the software defined switch with a cable. In the image above I have create a virtual switched named wireless and tied it to the wireless adapter in the machine.
Now select your Windows 10 VM and click settings. If there is already a network adapter configured as part of the VM then you'll simply select it and then select the virtual switch you just built to bind the network adapter to the switch. Think of that as pugging the cable from the network adapter in the VM into the software defined switch.
That's all there is to it basically.

Thanks for that!
Looks pretty much like what I did??? I'll go over it again and see if I missed something.
Which I undoubtedly did!!!

I've used Hyper-V starting from the 2008 release and have used and tested each version.Scallica wrote:Did you always have 2012 or did you upgrade from 2008?Venom51 wrote:2012 R2.
