Even if FIOS was available in my neighborhood, I don't think I'd want to pay $22/month for the DVR ($32 if you want 12 tuners), plus another $10 per additional TV for their extender. For me, that would add up to $72/month on top of my already-ridiculous cable bill.

But it shows that "everybody and their brother" is jumping on the many tuner as you can fit bandwagon.

Exactly why we have a 12 tuner HTPC and 5 extenders. It would cost an arm and a leg to rent from Verizon OR TWC to feed the 6 TV's we have.

Just the hardware rental fees would be more than the service portion of the FiOS bill.

Yep and this was the reason I ended up finally rolling my own HTPC all them years back, once I was no longer merely single and worried about my own tv watching habits I realized how expensive it was or impossible to do what I wanted my service to do...
