Republic Wireless

Has anyone tried Republic Wireless? I'm thinking of getting a cell phone for my kids to share. It's mostly for emergencies and won't get much use right now. To add a line to Verizon is $30 a month without data. I planned on getting a cheap track phone but it bothers me that the minutes expire.

Good point on the minutes expiring, but I'll take that any time when I can have cheap prepaid on the Verizon network through PagePlus Cellular.

I looked at Republic awhile back, but they were nowhere near ready for prime time.

Another prepaid option is T-Mobile, where the minutes don't expire for a year. And as long as you do buy more minutes, they roll over (same with PagePlus).

I just started using this service yesterday, and so far it has been great. But I'm only two days in....not really enough time to give a valid review.

They have the Moto G coming in April for just $149 and no contract. Sounds like a good deal. I might use it as a home phone and let the kids take it when needed. It uses the Sprint network which isn't great around here but I think it should be good enough. It definitely couldn't replace my line though. The "unlimited" data plans aren't so unlimited.

This looks interesting, think I might pick one up to replace my obi when the Google voice switch over happens.

Richard do you still like the service? The Moto G should be out soon. Sounds like a great option if everything works like it should.

Yes, I like it very much. I haven't had any problems that can be attributed to Republic Wireless. Sprint coverage is a bit spotty for me, but the availability of WiFi has thus far made Sprint's spotty coverage moot. Overall it seems to be working very well.

I'm with Tracfone, and they seem to be pretty good for balance.
Minutes roll over, phones are locked though.
Got my daughter a $10 refurb that seems to be great for her though, one week out. (that's 200 minutes later)

The phone is available on the 17th. I'm going to order it next week when I come back from vacation. If you want to send me your referral link I'll use it to sign up.

I didn't even pay attention to the fact that they have a referral program. Here you go: http://rwshar.es/OGNx
