X-Box solution-listen up microsoft

All MS would have to do is build an add on box for the XBoxone that would take a couple of cablecards and a slot for a HDD, they already have playready and the guide. I would think that this could double XBox sales and put a serious hurt on TIVO.

Depends. Would I have to have multiple XBones for extenders?

Or would extenders even exist? Absent extenders, I vote no.

They already had a DVR in development for it (OTA only, I know) and cancelled it. Like it or not, it's not happening. And as much as I'd like it to have happened, I really doubt it'd help sales much, certainly nowhere near doubling.

My reasoning for doubling sales would be those who would buy the Xbox instead of the TIVO.

My suggestion doesn't describe a computer as the xbox already has all the power needed. The box would just house the tuner, cablecards and HDD.

I don't forsee many non-gamers choosing a DVR enabled Xbox over Tivo. I certainly wouldn't unless they practically gave it away. I had to hold my nose when I had to buy Xbox WMC extenders as I had no desire for a big, expensive, hot, noisy gaming console in several rooms in my house, especially one that can see and hear my every move. No thanks.

Barely anyone seems to buy Tivos nowadays (at least looking at the big picture). Most definitely not enough to double Xbox One sales. If there was even the slightest possibility of that happening, Microsoft wouldn't have shelved the Xbox One OTA DVR project.

I think I would prefert Microsoft to add the "One Guide" to Windows 10 and make it remote compatable.... give a small (WMC type) interface that can run Remote enabled applications. Then allow all WMC tuners to be used with it including cablecard tuners. And of course extend it out with a Xbox 360 or Xbox one...

The Home theater PC option will give much more than you can get with closed Xbox one system.

A updated Media Center.... Or if someone finally gets full screen RDP working on WMC (it does work but, in a window with a hack), then we could all get cheap Rasbery PI's and run them in RDP mode ($40 extender that plays all content)....

That was old XBox. XBox 360 Slim, very quiet and not hot at all.

Not in my experience. 360 slim power brick fan got louder with age. Far too loud for a quiet room. Happened to all 5 of mine in the course of several years. No thanks.

Mine are now 5.5 years old, and quiet and clean as they day they were new.
