Emby as WMC replacement

#1

Post by Bryan » Mon Jun 13, 2016 9:12 pm

I'm already using Emby in WMC, but I was looking over their release notes last night and didn't realize they had live TV support. We only have OTA anymore (an HDHomeRun tuner) and none of the content in WMC currently is copy protected, though we'd hate to lose it. Is Emby to the point it can be a drop in replacement in this scenario? Any WMC holdouts gone that route? My ideal situation would be replace my HTPC with a lower-end NUC running Linux with a server running elsewhere, all wired.

I've been wanting to repurpose my old Win 8.1 WMC machine and build a Win 10 Sage TV/Emby backend to test the Sage TV/Emby apps as DVR solutions on the SHIELD/Android TV. Just can't seem to get around to it.
