Can the Firmware on a Motorola CableCARD be updated? If so, is this something that I request from my cable provider or can I do it through an app or WMC?

The cable company pushes new firmware over the wire. When they do so, they roll it out to all CableCARDs. You can't request it. However, since you have a Ceton tuner, you can ask Ceton to work with your cable company and ask them to roll out new firmware... particularly if your firmware version causes some problem with the Ceton tuner that has been fixed in a later version.
