http://www.timewarnercable.com/Corporat ... dzone.html yay NFL Network finally coming to TWC....but if you notice the (*) at the end, and the small print at the bottom

Quick question....is that legal per FCC rules.

I have noticed my cablecard updated last night with the new channels....but I don't think my Tuning Adapter has updated, because there not showing up in my guide yet.

I chatted with a time warner rep online asking them what they meant by that, and they replied that the NFL networks wouldn't be avaliable to cablecard users. Due to technology

Code: Select all

Jenny>I apologies , however cable card users cannot view NFL network

Me_>what is the reasoning for this

Jenny>One moment please.
Jenny>The technology doesn't allow us to broadcast NFL network for cable card users.

Me_>??? but it allows you to broadcast every other HD channel minus on demand????? ok well its not your fault.....but the FCC mandates that cablecard users receive the same channels as with people with a Box.....Im just saying come tomorrow, tivo users will not be very happy, i'l go see about complaining to the FCC it still not coming in on Monday.....Thank you for answering my questions

Jenny>Thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestions provided. It surely helps us to learn about our customer's expectations. We will surely consider your comments and work on it. This information does help influence future programming changes.

Jenny>I would like to try to restore your faith in Time Warner Cable. We value each and every customer, and I apologize for the problems you’ve experienced.
Me_>ok
Me_>bye
But it took me asking like 3 times before she go to that point....so I'm not sure she knew what she was talking about. I know the NFL Network its self will be available to digital users, but the RedZone will only be available to Sports Pass customers....so im not sure if thats what they meant by 'some' in the quote. But other 'Passes' like Movie pass, and HBO and such are available to cableCARD users.....So I Guess only time will tell....but if I don't have the NFL network by Monday on my Ceton I will be calling the TW CableCARD hotline on Monday.

Edit: Never thoguht about it, but zap2it might be the one thats not allowing it to my guide....never thought about that.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by using this program: http://1geek1tool.com/guidetool. After install, load the program, then click the turner icon to the right of "Refresh." Then select a turner and manually add in the channel (using the channel number worked for both the Number and Physical Number fields). Worked for me (you need to know the channel numbers of course).

Also, you are right that this is a zap2it problem--which will probably be fixed soon, I imagine.

If any of the NFL channels use any kind of video-on-demand type of thing, you won't be able to get those (because they are "on demand" and require two-way communication, which is not supported by CableCARD).

My Cisco STA1520 received the same update about 30 seconds after your timestamp. When I go to the channel lineup in my HDHRPrime, it shows the 4 channels and their corresponding channel numbers (2 digital, 2HD). They don't show up in the guide, however. I checked Zap2it last night, and their online guide didn't have those channels listed yet. I submitted an online ticket informing them of the change, so at this point its a matter of time before it is updated and corrected... then pushed down to WMC via updates.

For those interested, I found this link on TimeWarners site... has channel numbers for every market. http://www.timewarnercable.com/MediaLib ... annels.pdf

I just wanted to come here and second the guidetool fix for this problem.
Time Warner customer service was absolutely atrocious. They are completely non-helpful and even tried to get me to pay for the HD tier/HD box. I try not to tell them that I'm running with a ceton cable card; it tends to make them freak out and shut down.
I already had the sport's package, so I got it tune the redzone channel manually. If you have redzone, they you must have NFL network automatically as well. Sure enough, with the guide tool, it tuned perfectly as well.
Thanks so much for the solution here.

Yeah, I used that tool listed above and and added the channel fine. So it is a zap2it issue, and not an on-demand/Time Warner issue.

It's definitely not the first time that the reps at the cable company were wrong. The same thing happened to me when the 3D Olympics channel came out... the guide didn't update and the people at the cable company told me that CableCARD is not a 3D-compatible technology. I added the channel manually, and it worked perfectly.

Response from Zap2it:
"Thank you for the updated information in your email below. We have forwarded your email to our lineup team who will work to resolve this issue in a timely manner."

Nothing specific, but at least I got a response indicating they've done something.

Hi all
NFL network was added to my cable lineup this week but it doesn't show up on media center's guide with my Ceton pci. My other cable set top boxes are tuning in NFL network. I repeated setup of tv tuning in media center but still no luck. My setup includes an SDV adapter. Thanks for any input

Zap2it updated online listings for my area yesterday morning, updated media center last night, and the channels showed up, so all is good.

Thanks for everyone that chimed in, and for that great guide app.

Now I have to call the cablecard hotline to see why my mtv2hd, and tvlandhd require a subscription.....but thats for another day.

Channels added successfully but no program information though. Is that normal with this tool?

Yes, until you get some kind of guide data being downloaded for that channel. You can manually assign the channel to a guide listing service in Guide Tool (or in Media Center's menu)... but if none exists for that channel, you'll have to report the problem to Zap2It and wait for a resolution.

Until then, you can schedule manual recordings based on time/date/channel like an old VCR.
