TV = Television

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television

So, At least in the US LCD, OLED, HDTV, 4K, UHD TV, What ever you want to call it, CAN STILL be refered to as a TV. It does not refer just to tube TVs. And some very high end projectors still use a tube based tech,

It's just like something I hear ALL THE TIME, people with a DVR on "recording a show", " I'll tape the show tonight"....Who still uses tapes to record ? VHS ? Beta ? Anyone ? LOL

It kind of reminds me how xerox became synonymous with photocopying... even though the vast majority of machines are no longer "xerox", there is still a persistent cultural effect that photocopying should always be called xeroxing. Much like people insist on still calling them HDTVs, even though you can't even really buy a standard definition tv nowadays.
