Different browsers handle the download of installers in different ways, but generally... you should be able to right-click on the installer and choose Save as or something similar. Or, if it asks you if you want to open/run or save the file, choose to save the file. Then, just burn it to a disc....

HDHR Prime without Cable card?

I am a long long time hdhomerun user and can inherit a HDHR Prime from a friend who no longer needs his. I have no plan to get a cable card, but wondering are what its capabilities as a clear qam tuner without the card?
Does it work as a clear qam tuner?
If it does, how many tuners does it provide...
Last post
The HDHR Prime can be used for ClearQAM and has three tuners.
ok, so either I can go to 4 tuners or simplify my setup (and have a 2 way splitter instead of a 3 way) and have 3 tuners instead of 2 (or get another 2 way splitter and go to 5 tuners)

My system has been working flawlessly for months - since I started using it in January of this year. Any anomalies that have come up could be explained - or WMC recovered on it's own (e.g., cancels but then finds another tuner).
Today, however, I had a two hour program scheduled to record at 4 PM....
Last post
There appears to be a 30 second delay, after the computer wakes, until the tuners are found again. If the WMC frontend tries to tune a channel before the WMC service has found the tuners, it can lock out the search for tuners. Which then request a reboot to fix.
Mine has an 8-second delay.

This may be a question more for Cox - so since the Prime independent from the dvr, could I put the Prime on my bookcase next to the router and thus only need a foot long Ethernet cable and use Cox's provided cable card OR do I still need a coaxial into the Prime?

Well, just looking at amazon, the old one is not being sold officially by amazon anymore, so the price is from some random joe shmoe tech seller, who pushed up the price to 199.Official retail should be $150.

Anyone tried both? I have had my HD Homerun for about 2 or 3 years, and it has been pretty stable. I have the occasional dropouts, but am not sure if it is the tuner or the antennas.
I was wondering what changed with the newer tuner, other than the single coax connector and the plastic. I am...

My new one just came today! I'll have it setup over the weekend, and I'll report on its effectiveness.

I am having issues with the local guide for 55444 zip code. I am feeding a good signal through Comcast but cannot get WMC7 to see the .1, .2 ect. channels. I can see them with QuickTV which came with the tuner. How do I get around the Comcast provided channel lineup?

Does it help to know that I have a second analog/digital tuner that is in the box and it's doing the same thing? I think what is happening is that Comcast has pulled the channel information for the HD channels so that people can't access the local stations in HD. Is there a way to set a programming...

Hi, I'm thinking about switching my Infinitv for the HDHomeRun Prime. One of the main reasons would be to have my HTPC off and record with my Xbox 360 (besides that I can't wake my computer up and have the Infinitv come back on). Is this possible? Would it record to the Xbox drive itself? I have a...

The other thing to do is to not put your computer to sleep. How much time and effort is it worth it to you to troubleshoot a problem that may only be costing you a few dollars per month.

I have installed the SD Home Run Prime on my network and it won't work with media center on my desktop. Works well with MC on my laptop but I get a blue screen when tuning channels on my desktop. It says call your cable company to activate the cable card or run set up to activate windows . I know...

Welcome! Start by uninstalling the HDHR software. Then, to clear Media Center's configuration:
1. Stop the Windows Media Center Receiver Service and Scheduler Service.
2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\ehome (hidden path) and delete all files.
3. Reinstall the HDHR software and make sure all...

I'm running the 20111025 version of the HR-Prime BIOS and software and I have to restart WMC several times a day because it loses connect with the Prime. It's connected to a wired network and the throughput is fine, rarely any pixilation. The event viewer in Windows shows the following error...

Thanks, I'll see how things go with the firewall turned off but it brings up the question as to why it works with the firewall for a length of time before losing the connection and why it connects at restart, both without adjust any of the firewall parameters.

They stipulate that it's only compatible with standard def but it's a step in the right direction.

I downloaded the app and can successfully view TV on my first generation iPad. I haven't tried recording though I have very little to no use for that.

I just recently purchased a HD homerun for viewing over the air channels... i am having a few issues though. On my main media center the the video is a little bit choppy.
Specs:
I3 540
4GB Memory
ATI 4850
500gb HDD
I have no issues at all playing blurays or HD content... all the video drivers are...

So i reinstalled my OS and now the TV is perfect. I did put the OS on a 80GB SSD though... so I am not sure if that is why it is working good or if the OS just needed to be reloaded. I also have the 500GB HDD as my record drive so everything is working perfectly now.

I have one Silicon Dust HD HomeRun Dual already. I am adding two more this weekend.
Do I have to run the software for each unit?
With 6 Tuners I realize I will need TunerSalad. Do I install it before or after putting the two new units in?
I have looked around but can't find much on installing...

I have looked at the signal, and it is typically good. the pixelation is so sporatic that I can't catch it on the signal screen.
However, I can believe that it is signal. I have a distro amp for most things, since I just slapped these in , one is plugged into a 4-way splitter (-7db, seems like) and...

I noticed that HDHomeRun posted on their twitter feed that the 3CC versions of the new Prime tuner were shipping out of Newegg starting yesterday, 8/22. I pre-ordered mine on 5/14 but my order is still in the On Hold state.
Has anyone gotten shipment confirmation?

Hmm, I guess so. It's also convenient not having to predetermine what tuners belong to which HTPC. My three HTPCs have the same access to the same tuners but I don't record TV all over the house either.
And should I replace or add a HTPC all that's needed is to run TV setup on that machine without...
