Why am I not getting AC3 audio while playing H.264 files enocded as such? I rarely mess with codecs but I would like to get this working and I didn't think it would be this hard.
What codec(s) do I need and what settings should I look at. I have ac3 filter installed and tried matroska splitter.

Hi all,
Fairly new to HTPC and trying to get my image quality up.
As the title says I am experiencing soft/blurry playback in WMC. I do not notice this softness in vlc or even wmp (yes I know the default player is wmp in WMC)
Does anyone have any insight ?
I am using the newest klite codec pack....

I will for sure check out Sharky's pack to polish it off.
I see that part didn't tickle your pickle! ;)

I have been searching the web and can only find that the problem seems to be the Codecs which is causing my video to be choppy and audio to be out of sync. however i do not know what to do to to correct this. I am looking for a guide to set up WMC so that i can just use it to watch my videos on...

Before buying a new video card I'd recommend just using Win7's built in decoders. So, uninstall everything except Haali, which is still needed to play mkv, and try again. You don't even need Haali if you use tsmuxer to quickly convert mkv to m2ts.

Hi all,
As per title really, thinking of setting up a 'live' build of XBMC and this seems to be the easiest way to playback my recorded TV.
Thanks,

From your name I'm guessing you're in the UK. The advantage of wtv is that is stores the MHEG data from Freeview, so the red button stuff and subtitles. Converting to dvr-ms will strip all that out - will save a chunk of disk space if that matters to you.
The other thing is that wtv will store...

Windows 7 64bit vs 32bit

Hi all,
I have a Windows 7 MCE 64 bit and films appear to play better outside of MCE using the 32bit media player. Is it possbile to get MCE to use the 32 bit player rather than the 64bit ?
Want to try and avoid re-installing 32 bit windows.
thanks, :D

On Windows 7 x64, WMC is 64-bit and the WMP you get in the start menu is 32-bit, so 2 different sets of codecs are used. There is a 64-bit version of WMP, but you have to manually go find it in W7 x64 (it's in the Program Files directory, whereas the WMP that is linked in the start menu is in...

I've been unable to find reliable current information on supported file types for 7MC and extenders online. I'd like to rip my DVDs and be able to play them on the 7MC computer, an xbox 360 extender, and a dma 2100 extender. A few specifics for what I'd like:
Quality - I want to maintain the...

I would also suggest dvr-ms. Wtv is good also as long as you are only using extenders. I have a couple of extenders and also a western digital tv live plus and it will play dvr-ms but not wtv. I can use playto but that is a pain in the butt.

Hey all,
First post here, been using media center for some time. Next item on my list of things to do is, if possible, come up with a better way of switching between playback sources.

Does anyone have any experience with this application. It records streaming content to a .plv file that can be viewed in wmp. I tried playing a file on an extender with no luck. The info I have is that the files are DRM and will play though Playon but I don't want to mess with that. I would like to...

actually i've scrapped the shark pack, and gone with LAV filters. did thsi so i can now get HD audio over hdmi, which is working well.
xbox's are now not playing mkv at all... i'll need to look into it more, not concerned about downmixing the audio on the extenders, but the transcoding option i...

Hi
Just wondering what others do with their Blu-ray discs ?
I am currently being lazy and just ripping the entire disc to ISO image. I have AnyDVD HD installed on my Windows 7 PC and just use the My Movies MCE UI Disc Copier to rip them to the WHS.
Obviously ISO's are massive in file size and...

When I rip my movies I rarely compress or convert the files. My DVDs are in vob format and Blurays in m2ts. However I am looking at converting some of the files to stream on my xbox. Most are in DTS-HD and I would assume that to stream to Xbox that would need to be converted to a format that will...

Hi,
I have lost my subtitles. I have no idea what I have done but I am guessing it is something to do with ffmpeg or shark007 codec's as that was the last item I remember changing, but I really can't be sure. Have I missed a setting somewhere? No matter what I try I can't get subtitles to play on...
