That said, our CRTC have their rectums clamped so hard around the two big players,- Bell and Rogers that our prices are ridiculous and our choices are limited.

Interesting idea, 2 tuners (clear QAM/NTSC) that record to the cloud. $14.99 a month for unlimited storage. I don't suspect this will take off especially with non-encrypted cable going away (right?).

A day or two ago, I discovered that we in Central Florida have some new channels to view the Olympics. In Central Florida on Brighthouse Networks (BHN), I should be able to get channels 1770, 1773, and 1774. After a channel scan, I got 1773 and 1774. However, 1770 doesn't show up in my guide....

I'm sure you've all seen by now, but there has been a leak of old Xbox 720 plans from MS. Clearly they are pushing gaming and Kinnect improvements, but there are some media comments there as well:

My UPS is making a clicking noise and at times the fan runs high but not too frequently.

I was very much looking forward to verizon's shared data plans... my family of 5 does not really use a whole lot of data, so being able to share it between us would have made sense. Well take me off this list. Scored a few extra bucks playing poker at the casino; picked up a EVGA Geforce 210. And apparently EVGA Precision now supports GPU Voltage so I can undervolt/underclock to a suitable performance. There's literally nothing I need or want now :D

I've been a Media Centre user for over 6 years now, and a regular on TGB, in its various guises, for around 5.5 years. You know what I finally went and bought at the weekend??

My very first HDTV! Only a cheapy one from the Best Buy closing down sale, but none the less a HDTV it is. It's not set up...

Is anybody latching on to any of the music cloud services? I have adopted Google service to play music on my Android phone and I have to say is a bit handy to say the least. I use Google Music. Mainly as an off site backup though. I have my music locally stored to my phone so no need to waste bandwidth streaming it. I've had no issues with it.

So, I bought a new economy laptop from a recently opened local Walmart yesterday. It was a hundred bucks off RRP at $298 + tax. I go through laptops as if they are disposable. I tend to be heavy on them, so cheap works for me.

I grabbed it off the shelf with the big red sticker saying $298...

So, the fool that I am, I put my name down for a black 4S 32GB when it first came out. I was number 2632 in the queue.
It arrived at my local store today.
I called them up, to see how much it would cost to replace my 4 that I had since march on a three year contract....

I'd not heard of this before, so thought I'd share: NextPVR.

Obviously no cable card for our American cousins, but it looks a decent PVR option otherwise. The ability to record multiple channels from one tuner's stream is a definite winner, and one of the few things I think would actually improve...

So ever since Blu-Ray came out I have been wanting this.. As you can probably tell by my Avatar I am an avid Star Wars (Nut, Geek, Fan) .. I can't help it.. I grew up in that era..Had the toys (still do) and I just grew up watching and enjoying the films for years.

For those that peruse the WEC, they implemented some layout changes:

--The activity section is now on the bottom of the page
--The user info for each post is now on the top of the post instead of the side
--The old TGB logo is on the top of the page

Interesting stuff from the Beeb

I love their reference to 'wiping and resetting' the web lol.

I think all they need is lots of processing power with a few thousand Exabyte’s. They could simulate the Worlds backbones, subnet layers and pipes. Most of it running over simulated EIGRP. Throw in a few protocols. Perhaps all they need to build is a skeleton of sorts, without all the crap out...

So, here it is.

Plain and simple. I'm about 2 hours a day on average, perhaps a tickle more. I like to chill in the late evening, feet up and wind down. Ah yes :D

Well, this is much better than the half-@rsed attempt that Redmond has forced upon us. I am a long-term lurker of the original Green Button, but since they've moved over to the 'Expert' (yeah-right!) community I find it really difficult to find any of the information I'm after.

A real shame it had...
